Apple vintage – still useful?

Is your Apple computer 5 years old or older? Time to buy a new model?  What is the right answer?

If you are a busy commercial user depending heavily on processing intensive software, authoring audio, video and complex designs then – Yes, you should bite the bullet and invest in a new machine to stay competitive.

However, there are many situations where the expense appears to be disproportionate when set against your actual needs. Here the “vintage” Apple Macintosh will be the more cost effective solution IF the necessary maintenance AND fast storage drive upgrades have been installed. This is relevant to all self employed, small business and home users where the majority of work is revolving around e-mail, web searches, spread sheets, word processing and photo editing.

Did you know that even 2009 Macintosh computers are fit for today’s internet world?  If refurbished with a fast Solid State Drive,  the latest available OS X and a bit more memory these older Macintosh machines are astonishingly fast. Any model fitted with a Core i5 or i7 processor, particularly the 2011 & 2012 models are astonishingly versatile and fast.

So if you find that your Apple Macintosh is unbearably slow booting and showing the spinning beachball a lot, then it’s time to do something about it.
