The iPad - Has Apple done it again? PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 29 January 2010
Image By 2007 there were many Smart Phones. Then, in June 2007, Apple launched the iPhone. It turned out to be the smartest of all. Not because it has the fastest processor or the most functions. No, that kind of technical detail is no longer that important (unless you are a geek ;-). The iPhone just turned out to be the smartest and most used Smart Phone of all the available models because it just works better. Result: 42.48 million sold to date (from October 2007 to Q1 2010). Remarkable! Indeed, because all Mobile Phone makers now look up to Apple, a mere newcomer to the mobile phone market, now perceived as the standard setter.

Will the new Apple iPad turn out to be as visionary as the iPhone? Well - have you had a look at it?

This uniquely functional piece of internet technology may soon be even more ubiquitous than the iPhone. Why? Because Apple have done their homework. Unlike other makers releasing half baked, semi functioning devices onto the market and then struggling to convince consumers to buy. Apple have taken their time (around 10 years is rumored) to develop and perfect a device that will fit perfectly into everyone's digital lifestyle not to mention the numerous commercial scenarios possible.

Image The iPad is so practical and so desirable to so many that it is entirely possible to sell 50 million units or more within the next two years. Oh, I wish I had bought shares when everyone thought Apple were going bust.

The iPad may well turn out another milestone for the IT world not just for Apple. It may soon redefine what everyone perceives a good computing device should be as a minimum standard.

For starting a new decade with a new trendsetting concept I take my hat off to Apple and salute Steve Jobs for being truly visionary. Now go and have a look at the iPad, especially if you were planning to buy a new computer anyway. You may find that it is much cheaper then you thought. Perhaps you can afford both. One thing I’m quite sure of - You'll love using the iPad.
